EAST Workshops

I have experience teaching introductory game design concepts to students of varying ages and experience levels via the EAST Initiative. Bridging between game design concepts and tabletop game design to basic coding and object-oriented game development in Unity, these workshops have allowed me to connect with passionate students and help them get started on their gamedev journey. These workshops have included multi-day sessions with one-on-one training, as well as single-sitting online courses, from 2018-2022.

About

I'm Olivia Dunlap, a game writer, programmer, and designer from Little Rock, Arkansas. I have bachelor's degrees in English and computer science with a game design emphasis, as well as a masters degree in interdisciplinary studies from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.I love games. They've always been there to keep me company when the woods, creeks, and creatures of Newton County couldn't: a wild varmint's connection to the outside world. I grew up wanting to be a writer, and eventually I found out that I could combine my interests and my passions to make games. I am particularly interested in the possibilities of narrative interactivity unique to digital media.

I currently write, design, program, and do other miscellany for Little Rock Games, including work on educational simulations, interactive museum exhibits, and games. I've also dabbled in podcasting, have experience in VR development and research, have more than a year of software engineering experience, and have taught game design workshops for EAST Initiative.
